Why Internet Radio Still Matters When Everybody Has Spotify...

These days, we have more music available to us than ever before.

With streaming services like Spotify, you can search for almost any artist or song you want and play it instantly.

So why would anybody still listen to internet radio?

The answer is simple. Cont..

Having access to music isn't the same as having someone introduce you to music.

Think about how many songs are available today. There are millions of them. That's great, but it can also make finding something good difficult.

Sometimes you don't want to search.

Sometimes you just want to press play and hear good music.

Radio Can Take You Somewhere

A good radio station isn't just a bunch of random songs playing back to back.

Someone is actually choosing the music.

That person might play a song you haven't heard in 30 years. Then they might play an independent artist you've never heard before. After that, they might play a classic that reminds you of riding around with your friends when you were younger.

You didn't search for any of it.

The music found you.

That's something a search box can't replace.

Music Is More Than What's Popular Right Now

A lot of great music gets forgotten because it isn't currently popular.

Older soul records still sound good.

Roots reggae still sounds good.

Funk still sounds good.

Golden era hip hop still sounds good.

And there are independent artists making good music right now who may never get millions of streams.

Good music doesn't stop being good because it's old or because an algorithm doesn't put it in front of you.

It just needs somewhere to be heard.

Radio Has Personality

This is another part that's easy to forget.

Radio isn't supposed to feel like a jukebox.

The people behind a station give it personality.

They have opinions about music. They know certain records. They make connections between songs and artists. They can introduce you to something you didn't know existed.

That's part of what made radio special in the first place.

And internet radio gives us an opportunity to bring some of that feeling back.

That's Why Sound Mind Radio Exists

Sound Mind Radio isn't trying to compete with millions of songs sitting inside a streaming app.

We're doing something different.

We're building a place for people who still enjoy the experience of listening to radio and discovering what comes next.

Classic Soul & R&B. Roots Reggae. Funk. Golden Era Hip Hop. Independent Music.

Music from different generations brought together in one place.

Because sometimes you don't want to search through millions of songs.

Sometimes you just want somebody to play something good.

That's what radio is supposed to do.

Sound Mind Radio

Real music. Real culture. Real vibes.
